A “Hat Tip” is giving acknowledgement to a reader or source that brought something up to your attention. For an example, I will be giving many hat tips to Fabulously Frugal for their help on coupon deals and coupon stacking. Fabulously Frugal recently posted about a $1 off BIC pens coupons that you can use at Wal-Mart for a FREE pack of pens. I was not aware of this and were I to post it on my blog I might then give them/their site a hat tip.
Adding images to your blog might at first seem difficult or foreboding but they are in fact pretty easy. It’s always good to add an image if you are explaining something or want to add more “color” to your posts. Since my blog is on couponing I always try to add a picture of the coupons I am talking about in order for everyone to understand what they are. Even if your blog post isn’t a how to blog if you want your audience to be able to relate you to it’s always a good idea to post family pictures, activities, or just funny images you find humorous. If your audience feels they can laugh with you it make you more relatable and chances are they will keep coming back to your blog.

Podcast Script
Welcome to my “Social Media for Beginners” podcast. Today is
Monday December 1st. 2013. I have been using Social Media for my
website for almost 2 years now.
So you want to learn to promote your business using social
media but you aren’t sure where to start, well I’m here to help!
Social Media can seem scary at first especially when you
want to start a new website on Facebook for what you make or sell. You can
start by using your existing Facebook account to create a new page or you can
create an entirely new account in order to create a page for your business.
When creating your page you want to come up with a good name that is catchy but
is also more likely to pop up in the Face book search bar when Face book
members search for things. Once you have your page created you want to add
pictures of what you have for sale, post inviting and relatable posts daily so
that your audience follows you and shares your page with others. Keep your posts
short and to the point!
Micro blogging is a form of blogging
where users provide brief period updates (often on a frequent basis throughout
the day) and publish them on micro blogging platforms. You’ve probably
heard of Twitter, which is a Micro blogging tool. Micro bloggers can
submit their updates via the web itself or via text messages, instant message,
or even email( Social Media Tools 101).
I’m so happy you could tune in to listen to my “Social Media
For beginners” podcast. Be sure to tune in next time to learn about Getting
more likes on your Facebook Page!

Adding a Personal Touch
When
choosing a theme for your blog it is always a good idea to keep in mind that a
“first impression is the last impression”. Your audience should be able to
quickly understand what your blog is about by viewing the theme. The
readability of your blog is a key aspect when it comes to theme. Your blog
should be easy to read with just enough context to understand your post but not
too much to the point where it becomes laborious to read it. Dark text on a
light background also helps improve the readability of your blog. Lastly,
always choose an attractive and effective background and color scheme for your
theme.
To
add more of a personal touch to your blog you can write your posts using the
word “we” to help your audience feel included and it gives a personal touch.
You can tell your readers about you and your expertise in the area you are
posting about. Adding stories to your posts will make your blog become more
personal and you become more relatable to your audience. Choosing a specific
font to sign your name in also helps when adding a personal touch.
